STEM

Science is widely revered. Paradoxically, though, that respect comes from a process of constant, rigorous questioning.
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields once seemed shielded from trends against open inquiry and viewpoint diversity, but recent controversies have brought heterodox issues front and center.
When scientific bodies restrict data access, de-fund or stigmatize certain hypotheses, or even make political endorsements, many STEM researchers worry about the long-term impacts for the sciences, including their life-changing discoveries and innovations.
